In the present geological moment, the reference unit of the human has to be renegotiated in order "to see the interrelation human/animal [and human/earth and human/machine] as constitutive of the identity of each. [.] Intensive spaces of becoming have to be opened and, more importantly, to be kept open."
(Rosi Braidotti)

In the multimedia installation WHEN THE ATMOSPHERE IS LESS THAN PERFECT, 13 artists approach the complications and potentials of the posthuman condition, which Rosi Braidotti describes as a moment of urgent transformation. Formerly inanimate, mute or ineffective bodies and materialities become perceptible as actors in relationships and movements. These multifarious creators of changing environments have never been exclusively human: In the installation WHEN THE ATMOSPHERE IS LESS THAN PERFECT they appear as historical, timeless, invisible, productive, threatening, linguistically gifted and collaborative co-beings and events.
WHEN THE ATMOSPHERE IS LESS THAN PERFECT is the spatial translation and continuation of the eponymous publication, which presents text- and image-based artistic positions under the dissolution of the authorship.
The publication WHEN THE ATMOSPHERE IS LESS THAN PERFECT is available at MZIN.
