Parables of Deep Sea is a homage to feminist sci-fi writer Octavia E. Butler and her book “Parables of the Sower”. Parable of the Sower was published in 1993.
The novel is set in a dystopian future in which society has collapsed due to a combination of climate change, economic instability, and rampant social inequality. The novel explores themes of race, gender, class, religion, and the human capacity for both destruction and creation. It is a powerful and thought provoking work that remains relevant today, as we face many of the same challenges that Butler imagined in her dystopian vision of the future.
